The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maddox fails with the takedown.
Jones throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Maddox tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jones is in Maddox's guard.
Jones scoring with some ground and pound.
Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Maddox looking to control but Jones passes into half guard.
Jones is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dell Jones.
Jones scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Jones has managed to clinch.
Jones works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Jones gets to his feet - Maddox follows without any prompting.

Maddox is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Maddox is breathing heavily.
Maddox is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jones is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Maddox to the mat. Maddox regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Jones passes Maddox's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jones is trying to control. Maddox wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Maddox is looking to control Jones's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Maddox avoid being mounted?
Jones content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Jones stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Maddox to get to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Maddox.

Jones's jab looks to have found its range, popping Maddox under the eye.
Jones and Maddox are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Jones throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Maddox into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Jones knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.
