Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Helix throws out a leg kick but Ely moves out of range and Helix only half commits.
Helix throws a lazy right hand but Ely sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ely moves out of range of the strikes.

Ely tries to sprawl but Helix drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Ely is pressing down on Helix's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Ely has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Helix trying to control but Ely is working from the bottom.
Helix controlling from the top position.
Helix works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Helix prevents Ely from improving his position.
Helix trying to advance position but Ely counters by regaining guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Helix accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ely striking off his back, scoring a few points.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Helix stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Ely throws up his legs and catches Helix in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Helix tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Ely! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Joesph Ely!
