PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Larsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrew Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Max Larsson!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ellis blocks a head kick by Larsson.

Ellis moves into range and clinches up with Larsson.
Ellis is looking for a takedown.

Larsson breaks from the clinch.
Ellis shoots for a takedown but Larsson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Larsson is looking to clinch.
Larsson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Larsson wants to clinch up but Ellis keeps it at a distance.
Larsson is looking to clinch but Ellis is avoiding it.
Larsson has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ellis is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Larsson throws a body kick that misses

and Ellis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Larsson is trying to control the position but Ellis postures up.

Larsson wants to control the position but Ellis says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Ellis is nestled in close to Larsson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Larsson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ellis is working away from the top position though.

Larsson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ellis manages to get himself to full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ellis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Larsson wanted to stand there but Ellis had control of the position.

Ellis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Larsson defends well.

Ellis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ellis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Ellis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Larsson is aware though and is defending well.
Ellis thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Ellis has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Larsson is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Larsson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Ellis regains guard immediately.

Larsson is looking to work some ground and pound but Ellis has wrist control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ellis has a closed guard, preventing Larsson from standing up.

Ellis looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Larsson wants to get up but he can't break Ellis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Larsson wants to stand and escape but instead Ellis has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Larsson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Ellis stands and steps away. Larsson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ellis keeps the fight on the outside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ellis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Larsson drives through and clinches with Ellis against the cage.

Larsson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ellis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Larsson.
Larsson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Ellis is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Ellis has hold of Larsson's hands but Larsson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

It looks like Larsson is going to stand back up.
Ellis holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Larsson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ellis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Andrew Ellis.
Larsson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Ellis's head.

Larsson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ellis's half guard.
Larsson is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ellis wants to control but Larsson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Ellis has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Larsson is on him like a limpet, forcing Ellis back against the cage.

Larsson has picked Ellis up - he's going for a ride! Larsson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ellis kicks Larsson off and gets back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ellis clinches up against the cage.

Larsson has Ellis pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Larsson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ellis tumbling to the mat - Larsson dives into Ellis's guard.

Ellis has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Larsson should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Ellis has tightened it up now! Larsson should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
