Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Anghel Ama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Picton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Picton's choice of entrance music: some emo trash. Kevin Picton has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Anghel Ama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kevin Picton!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Picton keeps the fight on the outside.
Picton fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Ama on the side of the head.
Ama really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ama on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Picton. Picton obviously looking to wear him down.
Picton displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ama.
Picton stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Picton wants it to stay on the feet.
Picton throws a head kick that Ama semi-blocks.
Ama blocks a head kick by Picton.
Picton swinging wildly here.

Picton gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Picton jumps guard and drags Ama to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Ama content to stall in guard here.
Ama passes Picton's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Ama seems content to control.

Ama seems to be looking for submissions.
Ama with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Ama is pressing down on Picton's thigh, looking to free his foot. Picton is holding on for now.
Picton trying to control but Ama postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ama takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Anghel Ama just wasn't active enough.

Ama forces Picton back against the cage and clinches.
Picton wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ama has him pressed against the cage.

Ama turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Picton is not content to let Ama control the position.
Picton wants to get back to his feet but Ama drags him back down.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ama misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Ama wants to control for a moment but Picton uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Ama sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Picton defending well though.
Ama working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ama is looking to advance position but Picton won't allow it.
Picton is not content to let Ama control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ama looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ama decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Picton swinging wildly here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Picton misses with a low kick.

Picton has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ama is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Picton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ama's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Anghel Ama will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nice uppercut there from Picton.
Ama misses with a series of wild punches.
Picton lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Picton shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Picton showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are battling for position here. Ama manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Ama will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Picton has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ama is proving hard to escape from.

Ama looking for a triangle here. Picton is fighting it but it looks tight! Ama pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Picton is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Anghel Ama!
Anghel Ama opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
Kevin Picton spoke after the fight, saying 'I would like to thank my manager for sucking so bad, this defeat goes to you angry dude!'.
