PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Moonra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Katsumi Nasu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nasu has chosen Shura no Hana as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Katsumi Nasu was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacob Moonra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Katsumi Nasu!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moonra takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Nasu tests Moonra's chin there with a solid looking shot.
We've been told by Moonra's head coaches at Synergy Fight Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Jacob Moonra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moonra keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Moonra shoots and misses

and Nasu counters with a takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A lull in the action here.
Moonra might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Nasu trying to control the position but Moonra is working away.
Nasu controls the position.
Nasu looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Moonra is trying to control Nasu's posture but Nasu avoids it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moonra is trying to improve his position.
Moonra trying to remain calm as Nasu controls from the top position.
Let's hope that Nasu has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Nasu looking to control but instead Moonra has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Katsumi Nasu wasn't active enough on the ground.
Moonra pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moonra keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nasu stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nasu wants it to stay on the feet.

Moonra has managed to clinch.

Nasu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nasu misses with a low kick.
Moonra drops his hands momentarily and Nasu takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nasu lands the left hand.
Moonra tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nasu swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacob Moonra. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Moonra misses with a hook.
Nasu moves out of range as Moonra strikes.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Moonra. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Moonra listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Horrible takedown by Moonra or perhaps it was just good defense by Nasu which made him look bad.

Moonra moves into range and connects with a jab.
Nasu checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Nasu tests Moonra's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Moonra missing with a left hand there. Nasu was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Moonra throws out a loose jab but Nasu uses good head movement to avoid it.
Moonra misses with an uppercut. Nasu saw that one coming.

A jab-cross combination lands for Moonra and sends Nasu crashing to the mat! Moonra follows him down to the mat - Nasu regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Nasu is rocked!


It looks like Katsumi Nasu has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Moonra throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Nasu is still in real trouble! Can Moonra finish him?
Moonra lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Nasu! More strikes land and this one is all over! Moonra jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jacob Moonra!
Our winner, Jacob Moonra, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
