The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sarnoso.
Pelono should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sarnoso doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Pelono counters with a nice body kick.
Sarnoso closes the distance and clinches up with Pelono, looking for a takedown. Sarnoso pushes Pelono against the cage but Pelono circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stan Sarnoso. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sarnoso tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pelono defends well and Sarnoso ends up having to push Pelono into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Sarnoso shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pelono but Pelono pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Sarnoso blocks a head kick by Pelono.
Pelono has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Sarnoso is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Pelono fakes the leg kick and cracks Sarnoso in the body.
Pelono throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Sarnoso shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Pelono counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Stan Sarnoso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
