Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sheldon Sykes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shaun Lee!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Franklyn Lucas and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sykes but Sykes pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lee throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lee dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Lee closes the distance and clinches up with Sykes, looking for a takedown. Lee pushes Sykes against the cage but Sykes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sykes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lee gets caught napping as Sykes dives in and scores a takedown. Lee manages to retain guard.

Lee stalks Sykes and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Sykes's face. Sykes staggers backwards, shaken.

enabling Sykes to counter with a crisp jab.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Sykes throws an elbow but Lee slips to the side and avoids it well.

Lee falls off balance throwing a combination
and Sykes counters with a big head kick but Lee shrugs it off.
Lee throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Sykes counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Sykes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lee tries to avoid it but Sykes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lee to the ground. Lee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Shaun Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sykes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
