The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nowakowski is trying hard to land a takedown here. Evans sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Nowakowski goes for a double leg but Evans avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Evans continues to drive forward.

and Evans counters with a good, hard body kick but Nowakowski shrugs it off.
Evans tries to land a front kick but Nowakowski steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Evans looks to score with a jab to the body but Nowakowski is just out of range.

Nowakowski fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Evans sprawls well initially but Nowakowski persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
