Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Erin Padilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Augustus Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Erin Padilla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Augustus Clay!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Clay moves into range and clinches up with Padilla.

Padilla jumps into guard, dragging Clay to the mat.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Padilla has control of Clay's left arm, preventing Clay from doing any damage.

Padilla is working an open guard so Clay takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Clay moves into the clinch successfully.

Clay works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Padilla looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Clay passes into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Clay thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Padilla parries the strikes from Clay easily there. Clay is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Padilla to escape.
Padilla is looking to regain half guard here but Clay keeps moving and retains side control.

Clay tries to score with some ground and pound. Padilla controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Clay is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Padilla knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Clay is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Padilla has escaped the position, nice work there.

Padilla could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Padilla tries to buck Clay off but Clay is having none of it.

Padilla is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Clay is controlling him well.

Clay tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Clay has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Clay is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Padilla is just riding it out for now. Clay eventually gives up the hold.

Augustus Clay dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Clay moves into the clinch.

Padilla has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Clay uses from the top position.
Clay wants to control from the top but Padilla keeps moving.

Clay stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Clay. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Clay keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Padilla's head.

Padilla has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Clay is working away from the top position though.
Clay looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Padilla is looking to control Clay's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Padilla avoid being mounted?

Clay stands up and beckons Padilla to join him on the feet.

Clay drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Clay stands and steps away. Padilla gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Clay rushes Padilla and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Padilla tries to pull guard but Clay won't allow it.
Clay manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Padilla drags the fight down to the ground.

Clay stands up from guard. Let's bang!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Clay fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Padilla to the ground. Clay is now in Padilla's guard.
Clay wants to control from the top but Padilla keeps moving.

Augustus Clay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Augustus Clay was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Padilla throws a combination that misses

and Clay counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Clay has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Clay maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Padilla could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Clay has cracked it and Padilla is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Clay!
