Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Briggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Newland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rick Newland will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briggs drives through with a takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Briggs throwing strikes from guard but Newland blocks nicely.
Briggs wants to stand but Newland has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Newland thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Briggs is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Briggs seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Briggs's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Newland is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Briggs defends well.

Newland is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Briggs has his hands clasped together but Newland extends and breaks Briggs's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Newland.
