Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Romeo Hernanes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fidel Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hernanes's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Awolnation - Sail. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez misses with the combination.
Mendez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hernanes but Hernanes pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Fidel Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hernanes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Hernanes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Hernanes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hernanes wants it to stay on the feet.
Romeo Hernanes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fidel Mendez.

Mendez throws a series of punches but Hernanes avoids them all with ease.

Mendez dives in and grabs Hernanes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hernanes pushes down on Mendez's head and hops out.

Mendez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hernanes's guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Hernanes is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Mendez has his hands clasped together but Hernanes extends and breaks Mendez's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hernanes.
