PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Emil Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dkfh Jfsl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Emil Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dkfh Jfsl!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jfsl has managed to clinch.
Jfsl tries to throw a body punch but Ellis avoids it by throwing Jfsl back against the cage.

Jfsl ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jfsl no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Jfsl is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ellis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ellis wants to control from the top but Jfsl keeps moving.

Jfsl is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ellis defends well.

Jfsl looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ellis passes into half guard.
Jfsl is trying to stand.
Jfsl trying to control but Ellis postures up.

Ellis thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ellis tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Jfsl is refusing to be controlled, as Ellis sits in half guard.
Jfsl is looking for a sweep. Ellis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ellis is looking to take a break and control but Jfsl is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because Emil Ellis wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Jfsl shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ellis is trying to defend but Jfsl finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Ellis wants to control but Jfsl is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Ellis keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Ellis slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Jfsl trying to control the position from guard on top but Ellis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jfsl prevents Ellis from getting back to his feet.
Jfsl passes into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ellis pushes Jfsl off looking to stand but Jfsl dives back in and keeps control.
Ellis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Jfsl decides to stand and escape the position.

Jfsl closes the distance and pushes Ellis back into the cage.
Ellis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ellis looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Jfsl decides to pull guard.
Jfsl wants to sweep here but Ellis controlling him for the moment.
Ellis trying to control the position from guard on top but Jfsl is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ellis wants to stand and escape but Jfsl is having none of it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jfsl moves into the clinch.

Jfsl gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Ellis gets back to full guard.
Jfsl trying to control but Ellis is working from the bottom.
Jfsl won't allow Ellis to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ellis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jfsl is aware though and is defending well.
Ellis is looking to stand up but Jfsl isn't so interested in that idea.

Jfsl stands and steps away. Ellis gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jfsl closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Jfsl escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jfsl looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jfsl throwing shots but Ellis is blocking nicely.
Jfsl wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ellis keeps working.
Ellis is looking to control Jfsl's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ellis avoid being mounted?
Jfsl missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Jfsl tries to pass to full mount but Ellis defends it.

Jfsl sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ellis defending well though.
Jfsl works his way into full mount!
Jfsl avoids the attempt from Ellis to control.
Jfsl takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jfsl misses with a head shot.
Ellis is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ellis is trying to reverse the position but instead Jfsl has taken his back - oops!

Jfsl is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Ellis knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Ellis for a finish.

Jfsl really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Ellis.
Ellis wants to get back to his feet.

Jfsl is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Jfsl trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

Ellis rolls, trying to escape but Jfsl keeps control of the position.

Jfsl patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Ellis has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Jfsl is looking for a choke. Ellis gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Ellis manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jfsl is breathing heavily.
Jfsl has Ellis pulled in close to control his posture.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ellis stays in close to Jfsl's body and controls the position.

Jfsl had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ellis defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dkfh Jfsl showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Ellis wants to break free but Jfsl has control.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Ellis is trying to escape back to his feet but Jfsl uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Ellis wants to get back to his feet but Jfsl drags him back down.

Jfsl is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ellis has escaped the position, nice work there.

Ellis is trying to control Jfsl's posture but Jfsl avoids it.
Ellis is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jfsl's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Jfsl is looking to stall here but Ellis recovers full guard.

Ellis wants to get back to his feet but Jfsl is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Ellis wants to stand up but Jfsl is controlling him.

Jfsl stands up from Ellis's guard - Jfsl perhaps looking for a knockout.
Jfsl keeps the fight on the outside.

Jfsl darts in and clinches Ellis up against the cage.

Jfsl has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ellis is trying to keep an underhook but Jfsl manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Ellis looking for submissions off his back.

Jfsl stands up from half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jfsl misses with a head kick.

Jfsl rushes Ellis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ellis has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Ellis is trying to break the clinch but Jfsl has him pressed against the cage.
Ellis is trying to pull guard but Jfsl turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Dkfh Jfsl is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jfsl thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ellis's head.

Well Jfsl has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
