Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mick Smithwick!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Brown!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown shoots in for a takedown but Smithwick shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Brown cracks a nice hook into Smithwick's ribs.
Smithwick uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.


It looks like Tony Brown has been cut.
Brown gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Smithwick counter with a right hand.


Brown is rocked!
Brown shoots for a double leg takedown but Smithwick sprawls well. He's pushed Brown's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Brown is still on wobbly legs! Can Smithwick finish him?
Mick Smithwick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Brown.

Brown drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Smithwick wants to get back to his feet but Brown is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Brown throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smithwick works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brown trying to control the position from guard on top but Smithwick is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Brown in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Brown wants to control from the top but Smithwick keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tony Brown hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Smithwick misses with a wild combination.

and Smithwick counters with a nice uppercut.
Brown cracks Smithwick with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Smithwick slaps away a takedown attempt from Brown, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Brown shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smithwick sprawls well. Smithwick wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Brown gets slowly back to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The strikes coming from Brown are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Brown passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Smithwick!

Brown is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Smithwick has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Smithwick!

Brown is looking to cinch up a triangle. Smithwick throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Brown's body to avoid the submission. Brown has instead reached around Smithwick's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Brown arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Tony Brown!

During a confident post fight interview, Tony Brown thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
