PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Keiji Numa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peekay Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Numa's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, You're Going Down. Williams is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Noise Won't Stop. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams misses with a body shot.
Williams throws a hook to the side of Numa's head but Numa sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Williams feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Numas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Williams throws a shot from downtown. Numa moves away and avoids it.
Numa goes for a double leg but Williams avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Williams continues to drive forward.
Numa tries to pull guard but Williams holds him up against the cage and eventually Numa drops back down to his feet.

Numa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Williams rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Numa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Numa avoids the body shot from Williams.
Numa displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Williams swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Williams misses with the combination.
The fighters circle momentarily. Williams darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Peekay Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Williams fails with a takedown attempt.
Williams chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Numa can pounce on him.

and Numa counters with a good low kick that Williams was not able to check.
Numa uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Williams.
Williams is trying hard to land a takedown here. Numa sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Numa feints and then cracks Williams's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Williams down.
Williams misses with a looping left.

Numa closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Williams's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Numa wants to pass the guard but Williams is keeping the position.

Williams bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Numa's guard.

Numa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Williams doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Williams manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Numa has his foot on Williams's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Williams works his way back into a safe position though.

Numa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Williams is aware though and is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Numa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Numa is looking for a triangle but Williams pushes his legs off easily.

Numa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Williams can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Williams is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Numa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Williams defends well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Numa is looking to cinch up a triangle. Williams throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Numa's body to avoid the submission. Numa has instead reached around Williams's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Numa arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
