Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mario Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Stuart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mario Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vitor Stuart!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Banks fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stuart, pushing him back against the cage.
Banks keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Stuart's efforts to push away.
Stuart looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Stuart goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Stuart has hold of one of Banks's legs. Banks is fighting the takedown attempt but Stuart gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Banks wants to stand up but Stuart is controlling him.
Stuart's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Banks trying to strike off his back.
Stuart wants to control from the top but Banks keeps moving.

Stuart stands and steps away. Banks gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Stuart fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Banks sprawls well initially but Stuart persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Banks regains full guard. Nicely done.
Banks keeping moving, preventing Stuart from controlling successfully.
Stuart won't allow Banks to get back to his feet.

Banks has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stuart can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Banks is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stuart defends well.
Stuart looking to sit in guard and control but Banks gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Stuart working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Banks.

Stuart looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Banks throws a big elbow that misses.
Stuart avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Stuart is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Stuart is looking for a triangle but Banks pushes his legs off easily.
Stuart working a defensive guard but Banks passes into half guard.
Banks will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Stuart is trying to control but can't.
Stuart blocking the ground and pound attempt from Banks.
Banks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Banks working over Stuart with some ground and pound. Stuart looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Banks lands with a punch from half guard.
Banks takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Banks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Banks seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Stuart is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Banks scores with a couple of nice shots.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Banks wants to stand up but Stuart is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Banks is nestled in close to Stuart, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Banks postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Stuart to stand up.
Banks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Stuart is stalling here. Banks is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Stuart seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Banks has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

A close round but Vitor Stuart will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Stuart throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Banks was covering up waiting for the punch and Stuart finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Banks will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Vitor Stuart has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stuart is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Stuart with a flurry of punches that miss.

Banks looking to control.
Banks managing to control the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mario Banks.
Stuart circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Banks looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Stuart gets a double leg takedown into Banks's guard.
Stuart wanted to stand there but Banks had control of the position.

Banks looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Stuart stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Banks swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Banks is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stuart is aware though and is defending well.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stuart accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Banks keeping moving, preventing Stuart from controlling successfully.

Stuart looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Vitor Stuart has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Stuart closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Stuart is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Stuart wants to stand but Banks has his arm trapped.
Banks sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vitor Stuart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Stuart darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Stuart is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Banks is looking to control Stuart's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Banks avoid being mounted?

Stuart throws a strike but Banks avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Banks not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Stuart got a little sloppy there for a moment and Banks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stuart has managed to get both his arms back between Banks's legs - danger averted.
Banks is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Banks has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Stuart works to full guard.
Banks tries to stand but Stuart is controlling from the bottom.
Stuart really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Banks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Stuart is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Banks throws a strike but Stuart rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Banks has his foot on Stuart's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stuart works his way back into a safe position though.
Banks not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Stuart looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Banks seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Stuart feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Vitor Stuart was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Well Stuart has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
