PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kasper Koltun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Green has chosen Raining Blood as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Kasper Koltun has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kasper Koltun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Green!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green fails with the takedown.
Koltun moves into range and connects with a jab.
Green closes the distance and clinches up with Koltun, looking for a takedown. Green pushes Koltun against the cage but Koltun circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Koltun cracks Green with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.


It looks like Matt Green has been cut.
We've been told by Koltun's head coaches at Commonwealth that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Koltun keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Koltun moves away from the strike by Green.
Green shoots in and drives through. Koltun sprawls well.
Kasper Koltun has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Green.
Koltun connects with a crisp jab.
Green on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Koltun. Koltun obviously looking to wear him down.

Green shoots in and gets a takedown into Koltun's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Green wants to control from the top but Koltun keeps moving.
Koltun can't keep his opponent in guard - Green advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Green throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Koltun to regain full guard.

Green thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Green passes Koltun's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Green moves nicely into side control.
Green scores with a couple of short elbows.
Sloppy strikes there by Green.

Green working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Koltun's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Green has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Koltun!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Green lands with some strikes.
Koltun taking shots to the head.

Green with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Koltun is squirming around, avoiding Green's attempts to control the action.

Green has control of Koltun's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Koltun regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Green looking to ground and pound but Koltun is blocking nicely.

Koltun defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Green.
Koltun tries to reverse the position but Green maintains control.
Green trying to control but Koltun is having none of it.

Green throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Koltun has his hands clasped together but Green breaks the hold and Koltun is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Green!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Matt Green!
Matt Green took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'That was a big win for me. One step closer to the title and I can feel momentum building! GRAVY RAAAAAAAAAAVEN!'.
