PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wheasy Whee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Higgins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Higgins has chosen ACDC - TNT as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Alex Higgins will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Higgins tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Whee counters with a nice double leg into side control. Higgins won't be happy with that.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Whee scoring with punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Higgins bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

and Whee counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Whee lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
We've been hearing that Whee has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Higgins is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Whee is controlling him.
Whee works over Higgins with some ground and pound from guard.

Whee is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Whee connects with a nice short shot to Higgins's temple.
Whee looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Higgins with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Higgins has hold of Whee's hands but Whee slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Whee is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Higgins is trying to stand up here but Whee is controlling him well.
Higgins on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Higgins wants to get back to his feet.
Whee winds up and cracks Higgins with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Whee is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Whee is landing with some decent strikes but Higgins is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Whee with shots to the head and body - Higgins looks very uncomfortable down there.

Higgins takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Whee fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Whee lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Whee pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Higgins is rocked!
Oooooh, big shot lands for Whee! Higgins is hurt baaadly! Whee is firing away with more strikes - Higgins is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Alex Higgins spoke after the fight, saying 'great fight , he was the better fighter , i'll get back into gym and work on more of my weaknesses'.
