PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cristopher Porter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jupperd Asiot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jupperd Asiot will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cristopher Porter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jupperd Asiot!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Daniel Blasius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Asiot scores with a takedown into Porter's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Porter controlling Asiot's posture.
Asiot throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Porter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Porter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Asiot doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Asiot manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We're going to have a standup here because Cristopher Porter wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Porter is looking to clinch but Asiot is avoiding it.

Asiot closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Porter to the mat! Porter manages to get full guard.

Asiot stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Porter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Porter wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Asiot manages to pass to side control.

Asiot is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Asiot wants to take a breather but Porter is having none of it.
Asiot not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Asiot is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Porter manages to get to full guard.

Asiot postures up.
Asiot trying to control the position from guard on top but Porter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Asiot stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Porter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jupperd Asiot dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Porter moves into the clinch.
Asiot is trying to stall.
Porter trying to stall but Asiot improves his position.

Porter jumps into guard, dragging Asiot to the mat.
Asiot trying to control but Porter is working from the bottom.
Porter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Asiot stops Porter from standing up.
Asiot wants to control from the top but Porter keeps moving.
Porter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Asiot on the ground.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jupperd Asiot was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Porter shoots for a takedown but Asiot saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Asiot shoots in and gets a takedown into Porter's guard.
Asiot is pushing down on Porter's leg trying to pass to half guard. Porter is fighting to maintain full guard but Asiot has managed to sneak the leg through.
Porter tries to kick Asiot off but Asiot keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Asiot seems to be looking for submissions.
Porter is concentrating on defense, preventing Asiot from advancing position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Porter looks like he's trying to stand up.

Asiot missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Porter wants to get back to his feet.
Asiot is looking to take a break and control but Porter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jupperd Asiot.
Asiot feints and then cracks Porter's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Porter down.
Porter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Asiot but Asiot pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Asiot drives through with a takedown into Porter's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Porter closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Asiot is defending against the submission attempts here by Porter.
Asiot makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Asiot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jupperd Asiot showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Porter tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Asiot defends well and Porter ends up having to push Asiot into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Porter shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Asiot manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Asiot looking for a guillotine here but Porter defends easily.
Asiot wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Porter is now in half guard.

Porter is trying to work for a kimura but Asiot is defending well.
Asiot wants to control but Porter is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Asiot is trying to control but Porter passes into side control!
Asiot takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Porter scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Asiot to see if he's OK.

Asiot is looking for a sweep.
Asiot takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Jupperd Asiot has got the better of the ground game so far.
Porter works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Porter thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Porter has control of Asiot's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Asiot regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Cristopher Porter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jupperd Asiot is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Asiot keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Cristopher Porter showed his dominance in that final round.
