Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yo Ko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jere Stephens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ko comes to the cage accompanied by You are.. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yo Ko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jere Stephens!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stephens moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Stephens throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ko has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Ko there as he acknowledges the shot.
Ko tries to clinch there but Stephens circles away.
No joy there for Stephens, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Stephens scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Ko seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Ko has Stephens up against the cage in a clinch.

Stephens wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Ko manages to pass to side control.
Stephens is trying to stand up here but Ko is controlling him well.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ko wants to take a breather but Stephens is having none of it.
Ko working over Stephens with some ground and pound. Stephens looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stephens is refusing to be controlled, as Ko sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jere Stephens will probably get the nod.
That's time! Ko's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Ko takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Stephens rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ko moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Ko moves into the clinch.

Ko has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Stephens regains guard immediately.

Ko shoots in but Stephens avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Stephens tries to bum rush Ko with a series of wild strikes but Ko uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Stephens has his foot on Ko's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ko works his way back into a safe position though.

Ko wants to work for an arm triangle but Stephens is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ko connects with a nice short shot to Stephens's temple.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ko seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Stephens does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Stephens misses with a double jab.
Ko dives in and grabs Stephens's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stephens pushes down on Ko's head and hops out.
Ko has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Ko moves into the clinch.
Ko creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Stephens's defenses.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ko takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Ko is trying to drag Stephens to the mat but Stephens just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Ko keeps control of Stephens as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Stephens is trying to break the clinch but Ko has him pressed against the cage.
Stephens misses with a punch on the inside.
Ko lands with a left to the head.
Ko lands an elbow inside that Stephens shrugs off.
Stephens is pressed up against the cage. Ko has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Stephens down to the mat. Stephens avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Ko fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stephens, pushing him back against the cage.

Ko is trying to trip Stephens. He has hold of a leg but Stephens is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ko persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Yo Ko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yo Ko.
I think Ko has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
