Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charlie Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kurt Angle!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angle tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brown was well out of range. Poor timing from Angle.
Angle gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Brown counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Brown wants to control from the top but Angle keeps moving.
Brown tries to free his leg and advance position but Angle is retaining full guard.
Angle not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Angle can do anything to dispel that myth.
Angle wants to sweep but no luck.
Brown working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Angle wants to sweep here but Brown controlling him for the moment.
Brown has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Angle keeping moving, preventing Brown from controlling successfully.
Angle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brown. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Brown tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Angle defends well and Brown ends up having to push Angle into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

With the fighters up against the cage, Angle throws an elbow but misses.
Angle is working for takedown but Brown is calmly controlling the position for now.

Angle is bucking up trying to escape but Brown cracks him with another couple of good strikes.


It looks like Kurt Angle has been cut.
Brown wants to control the pace but Angle is squirming around nicely.
Angle tries to lock up and control but Brown gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Angle wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Brown.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Angle is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Brown looking to control but Angle is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Brown sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Brown is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Angle is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Angle is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie Brown dominated that round.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Brown shoots in looking for a takedown but Angle manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Brown's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Angle fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Brown manages to avoid it.
Angle slips under a jab.
Angle swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Angle thows a body shot but no joy.
Angle misses with an uppercut.
Brown throws a jab but it's blocked by Angle.
Brown misses with an uppercut. Angle saw that one coming.

Brown shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Brown controlling the pace.
Brown is trying to control the action in half guard but Angle is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Angle is pressing down on Brown's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Angle is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Brown won't allow Angle to sweep him here.
Angle is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Angle holds on and takes a little breather.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Kurt Angle was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Angle is looking to score with low kicks.
Angle keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kurt Angle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Angle drives through with a takedown into Brown's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Angle must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Brown is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Angle sees it coming and defends easily.
Brown wants to control but Angle is keeping him busy.
Angle is controlling Brown's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Brown wants to lay and pray for a moment but Angle keeps working.

Angle has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Brown is working away from the top position though.
Angle gets full guard.
Angle looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Brown puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Angle is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Brown maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Angle could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Brown has cracked it and Angle is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Brown!
