Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Antonio Sanchez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ruben Alamo!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alamo shoots in and bounces Sanchez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Alamo trying to control but Sanchez is working from the bottom.
Alamo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've been hearing good reports from Sanchez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Alamo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sanchez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alamo, into his guard.

Alamo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sanchez defends well.

Alamo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sanchez is aware though and is defending well.

Alamo throws his legs up looking for a submission but Sanchez uses it to pass to side control.
Alamo is not content to let Sanchez control the position.

Sanchez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Alamo, who protects the arm well.
Alamo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sanchez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Sanchez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Alamo stops Sanchez from passing to mount.

Sanchez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sanchez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alamo keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alamo looking for a sweep but Sanchez has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Alamo is desperately trying to improve his position but Sanchez has a good base and remains in mount.
Sanchez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alamo is looking to escape.
Alamo is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Alamo slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sanchez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Alamo defends it well.

Alamo looking for submissions off his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sanchez passes to full mount!

Sanchez is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Alamo is surviving well by controlling Sanchez's body position as best he can.

Sanchez looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Sanchez has control of Alamo's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Alamo regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Alamo is looking to get to half guard.

Sanchez has hold of Alamo's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Alamo manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alamo is desperately trying to improve his position but Sanchez has a good base and remains in mount.
Alamo regains half guard.
Sanchez is pressing down on Alamo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Alamo is holding on for now.
Sanchez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Sanchez is keen to just control but Alamo is a slippery customer.
Alamo wants to improve his position but Sanchez is controlling well.

Sanchez is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alamo wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Antonio Sanchez will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Sanchez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Alamo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Alamo is working for a kimura here but Sanchez manages to reverse the position and he's now in Alamo's guard.
Alamo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Alamo working for a triangle but Sanchez defends it easily.
Sanchez controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Sanchez forces his way into half guard.
Sanchez wants to free his trapped foot but Alamo is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Sanchez wants to control but Alamo is keeping him busy.

Alamo looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sanchez has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Alamo defend it? Sanchez steps over the head and cranks it - Alamo is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Sanchez!
