Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bertram Hurley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vedad Kurtic!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurtic shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hurley counters with a single leg into guard. Kurtic didn't expect that.
Hurley won't allow Kurtic to sweep him here.
Kurtic has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Hurley has passed into side control.

Hurley looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hurley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kurtic on the ground.
Kurtic can't do much from the bottom here.

Hurley tries to stand but Kurtic is controlling his head.
Kurtic tries to improve position but can't.
Kurtic manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Kurtic is looking to control Hurley's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kurtic avoid being mounted?
Hurley prevents Kurtic from improving his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bertram Hurley.
Hurley ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kurtic moves away.
Kurtic has his takedown stuffed

and Hurley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kurtic looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hurley passes into side control.
Kurtic is looking to reverse the position.
Kurtic is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kurtic is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Kurtic is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hurley pulls his head out easily.

Hurley tries to stand and escape but Kurtic is controlling the position.

Hurley is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bertram Hurley dominated that round.
That's time! Hurley's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kurtic gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Hurley counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hurley.

Kurtic is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hurley is looking to work some ground and pound but Kurtic has wrist control.
Hurley trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kurtic's guard.

Kurtic looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hurley passes into half guard.

Kurtic is defending against the submission attempts here by Hurley.
Kurtic is looking for a sweep. Hurley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kurtic regains full guard. Nicely done.

Kurtic working for a triangle but Hurley defends it easily.
Hurley wants to stand but Kurtic has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Kurtic looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hurley has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hurley drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kurtic manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hurley has Kurtic in his guard.

Kurtic drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hurley dives on top into guard.
Kurtic controls Hurley momentarily but Hurley frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Vedad Kurtic will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Hurley tries to clinch but Kurtic moves away
and Hurley takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hurley tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kurtic was well out of range. Poor timing from Hurley.
Kurtic keeps the fight on the outside.
Hurley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kurtic manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kurtic shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hurley counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kurtic trying to get back to full guard but Hurley takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Hurley wants to stand but Kurtic is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Kurtic is in all sorts of trouble here.
Bertram Hurley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hurley is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kurtic is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Hurley has control of Kurtic's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kurtic regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Hurley looking to finish Kurtic with some ground and pound. This is bad for Kurtic!

Kurtic manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Hurley moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Kurtic.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bertram Hurley showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hurley has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
