Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kogata Munoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mihai Matei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matei has chosen MitiS & MaHi - Blu as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kogata Munoz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Mihai Matei!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munoz misses with a low kick.
Matei fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Matei misses with a few strikes there.

Munoz gets the takedown into side control.
Matei pushes Munoz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Munoz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Munoz is trying to move to mount but Matei reverses beautifully and ends up in Munoz's guard.
Matei wants to stand and escape but instead Munoz has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Munoz with a flurry of punches that miss.
Matei preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Munoz looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Munoz stands up over Matei, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Munoz wants to pass the guard but Matei is keeping the position.
Munoz is stalling in the full guard.
Munoz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Matei swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Munoz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Matei works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Munoz controlling from the top position.
Munoz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Matei is keeping the position for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Munoz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Munoz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Matei but Matei pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mihai Matei is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Munoz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Munoz showed some decent athleticism there.
Matei looks like he's trying to stand up.
Munoz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Munoz is looking to take a break and control but Matei is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Munoz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Munoz wants to pass the guard but Matei is defending well.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Munoz in particular looking to stall.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Munoz throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Matei throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Munoz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Matei sprawls well. Matei wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Munoz gets slowly back to his feet.
Munoz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Munoz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Matei's waist but Matei gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Munoz off to one side.

Munoz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Matei does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kogata Munoz has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Munoz manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Matei on his heels. He'll look to pass Matei's guard now, I'm sure.

Matei throws a series of punches but Munoz moves out of range.
Munoz shoots in looking for a takedown. Matei tries to sprawl out of it but Munoz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Matei manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kogata Munoz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mihai Matei is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Matei will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Matei throws a right and a left that Munoz avoids nicely.
Munoz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Munoz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Munoz wants to take a breather but Matei is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Munoz is putting a hurting on Matei here, landing some big shots from side control.
Munoz connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Matei some visible discomfort.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Munoz is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Matei will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Munoz throwing strikes but Matei manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Munoz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Matei as he avoids it easily.

Matei throws an overhand right that lands on Munoz's shoulder, as Munoz tries to avoid the shot.

Munoz has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Munoz there as he acknowledges the shot.

Kogata Munoz showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Munoz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
