The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schlemper misses with a takedown attempt

so Churchill counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Schlemper looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Churchill is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Schlemper is looking for a triangle but Churchill pushes his legs off easily.
Churchill is working Schlemper over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Churchill drops back, looking for a kneebar! Schlemper looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Schlemper looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Schlemper!

Schlemper throws an elbow but Churchill slips to the side and avoids it well.

Schlemper is trying to move to mount but Churchill reverses beautifully and ends up in Schlemper's guard.

Schlemper has his foot on Churchill 's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Churchill works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Churchill is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Schlemper to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Schlemper is looking for a sweep. Churchill is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Churchill looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Churchill drives through with a takedown into Schlemper's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Schlemper is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Churchill is aware though and is defending well.

Churchill got a little sloppy there for a moment and Schlemper has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Churchill has managed to get both his arms back between Schlemper's legs - danger averted.

Schlemper is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Churchill cracks Schlemper with a big right hand but Schlemper just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Churchill misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Churchill takes a little break here. Schlemper wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Churchill lands a big shot there that rocks Schlemper but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Churchill is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Schlemper is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Schlemper flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Churchill anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Schlemper and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Churchill slips an arm under Schlemper chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Churchill has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Churchill is squeezing on Schlemper like an anaconda would it's prey. Schlemper fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
