The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pontes shoots and misses

and Marshall counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Marshall.
Marshall tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Pontes avoids it.
Pontes is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Marshall.
Marshall taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Marshall pulls Pontes into guard.
Pontes throws a big elbow that misses.

Pontes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Marshall trying to strike off his back.
Marshall utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Pontes drops back looking for a leg! Marshall is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Marshall manages to kick Pontes off! Pontes jumps back into Marshall's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pontes trying to control but Marshall is working from the bottom.
Pontes throws a big right hand that misses.
Marshall wants to sweep here but Pontes controlling him for the moment.
Marshall knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pontes on the ground.
Pontes trying to control the position from guard on top but Marshall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pontes passes Marshall's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Pontes is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Marshall really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pontes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Pontes in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Marshall tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Pontes!
