The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rapide is defended easily by Carwin.
Carwin has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Rapide is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Rapide closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carwin circles away.
Rapide on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Carwin throws a series of punches but Rapide avoids them all with ease.
Carwin misses with a series of wild punches.
Rapide throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carwin's waist but Carwin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rapide off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wanderlei Rapide. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rapide misses with a body shot.
Rapide throws a sloppy head kick and Carwin moves out of range easily.
Rapide shoots in for a takedown but Carwin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rapide fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Carwin throws a right hand that Rapide ducks under and follows up with a left that Rapide also avoids with ease.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rapide shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carwin but Carwin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rapide throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Carwin scores with a shot to the body.
Rapide takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

It looks like Wanderlei Rapide has been cut.
Rapide throws a half hearted mid kick.
