PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yngve Ingvar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yngve Ingvar!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Phil Schofield and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles blocks the body kick.
Charles throws a quick inside leg kick.
Charles works over Ingvar's head and body with a nice combination.
Charles tries to clinch up.
Ingvar takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Charles scores with a jab to the head.
Ingvar throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ingvar avoids the head kick by Charles.
Ingvar is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Charles.
Charles tries to clinch but Ingvar is having none of it.
Charles lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Charles.


Ingvar is rocked!
Charles jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ingvar is still on wobbly legs! Can Charles finish him?
Ingvar takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Ingvar swats away the attempt to clinch by Charles.
Charles catches Ingvar with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Ingvar connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Charles's hands.

Ingvar seems to have recovered his senses.
A punch lands to the side of Charles 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Ingvar missing with a left hand there. Charles was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Ingvar looks to land a right hand but Charles moved out of range.
Charles wants to land a leg kick but Ingvar is out of range.
Ingvar tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Charles defends well and Ingvar ends up having to push Charles into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Ingvar is pressed up against the cage. Charles has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ingvar down to the mat. Ingvar avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Charles throws a head kick but Ingvar moves out of range.

enabling Ingvar to counter with a crisp jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ingvar throws a jab when Charles was well out of range.
Ingvar lands the left hand.
Ingvar takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Ingvar closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Charles did well to prevent Ingvar getting side control.
Ingvar is trying to control the action in half guard but Charles is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Ingvar wants to work for an arm triangle but Charles is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ingvar takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Charles wants to get back to full guard.

Ingvar is looking for a kimura but Charles is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ingvar to get the leverage.

Ingvar seems to be looking for submissions.
Charles is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ingvar controlling the action here.

Ingvar is working for a kimura but Charles is defending it quite comfortably.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that David Charles will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Charles tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ingvar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A decent looking cross lands there for Charles.

Charles motions for Ingvar to come forward. Charles throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Ingvar stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Charles moves away from the strike by Ingvar.
Ingvar blocks a jab.
Charles throws an off balance right hand
and Ingvar cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ingvar misses with a looping left.
Ingvar doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Charles darts in and clinches Ingvar up against the cage.
Charles is trying to drag Ingvar to the mat but Ingvar just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Ingvar gets through Charles's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.


Charles is rocked!
Ingvar tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Ingvar swings wildly with an uppercut but Charles uses good head movement to avoid it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A left hand lands to the body for Ingvar.

Charles blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Ingvar leaning against his opponent.
Charles lands an elbow inside that Ingvar shrugs off.
Ingvar lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Oh Charles is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Charles doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Ingvar creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Charles's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Charles drops to his knees and Ingvar pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
