PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Rabbit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Devlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rabbit comes into the arena with Hero by Skillet blaring out of the sound system. Devlin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: sandstorm. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Rabbit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Devlin!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters circling a little - Rabbit finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Devlin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Devlin moves in looking to clinch but Rabbit pushes him off.
Devlin takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Rabbit looks to land a combination but Devlin avoids it well.

Devlin has closed the distance and engaged Rabbit in a clinch.
Devlin wants to break the clinch but can't.
Devlin is trying to drag Rabbit to the mat but Rabbit just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Devlin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rabbit using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Devlin has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Devlin is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Rabbit throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Devlin blocks it with crossed arms.
Rabbit scores a nice knee to the body.
Devlin is looking to break free of the clinch but Rabbit has double underhooks.
Rabbit connects with a nasty looking knee right to Devlin's face.
Rabbit with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Devlin is working for takedown but Rabbit is calmly controlling the position for now.
Johnny Rabbit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Devlin.
Devlin looks gassed!

Devlin breaks the clinch.
Rabbit tries to clinch up

and Devlin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rabbit is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Rabbit has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Devlin. Oh but Rabbit has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Devlin goes limp - he's gone! Rabbit jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Johnny Rabbit!
