Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nasir Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edwin Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nasir Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Edwin Edgar!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edgar misses with a left hand

and Jones counters with a crisp one two that drops Edgar! Jones thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Edgar to his feet! Edgar is in big trouble!


Edgar is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Edgar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Edgar is still on wobbly legs! Can Jones finish him?
Edgar stuffs the takedown.
Edgar throws out a leg kick but Jones moves out of range and Edgar only half commits.
Edgar seems to have recovered his senses.
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Edgar avoids it really well and circles away.
Edgar tries a head kick but it misses.
Edgar leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jones looks for a takedown but Edgar sprawls well.
Edgar has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That was a close round but I would say that Nasir Jones will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Jones moves out of range as Edgar throws a body kick.

Jones clinches up with Edgar and pushes him back against the cage.
Edgar throws a knee to the head but misses.
Jones blocks a body shot from Edgar.
Edgar tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jones's elbow.
Edgar stalling in the clinch but Jones improves position.

It looks like Edwin Edgar has been cut.

Jones works on Edgar's body with a couple of short punches.

Jones blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Jones wants to break free but Edgar has control.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Edgar which made him look bad.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Edgar's waist but Edgar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.
Edgar looks for the body kick but Jones saw that one coming.
Jones fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nasir Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jones tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Edgar keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Jones tries to kick Edgar off but Edgar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Edgar is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Jones pushes Edgar off looking to stand but Edgar dives back in and keeps control.
Edgar seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Some bone on bone action there as Jones checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Edwin Edgar.
I think Edgar has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
