Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Blue Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Jon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonny Jon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Blue Jay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jonny Jon!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jon.
Jon misses with a wild combination.

Jay closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Jay keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jon's efforts to push away.

Jay jumps into guard, dragging Jon to the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jay working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jay wants to stand up but Jon is controlling him.
Jay utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Jon is pushing down on Jay's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jay is fighting to maintain full guard but Jon has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jay is looking to escape.

Jay controlling the position for now.
Jay wants to get back to his feet.
Jay is trying to maintain the position but Jon is very close to passing his half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Blue Jay wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Jon attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Some wild striking there from Jon.
Jon dives in for a single leg takedown but Jay sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Jay stops a takedown attempt from Jon.
Blue Jay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonny Jon.

Jon manages to break the clinch.

and Jay counters with a takedown into side control.
Jon is trying to control Jay's posture but Jay avoids it.
A lull in the action here as Jay stalls from top position.

Jay is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jon gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jay is keen to just control but Jon is a slippery customer.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jay moves into full mount! Jon won't be happy about that!

Blue Jay dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Jay fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jon, pushing him back against the cage.

Jay manages to break the clinch.
Jon shoots in for a double leg but Jay sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Jay gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Jon wanted to stand there but Jay had control of the position.
Jay has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Jon has passed into side control.
Jay is trying to improve his position.
Blue Jay overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jay manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jon's best efforts.

Jay tries to get to full guard but Jon has control of the leg.
Jay wants to control but Jon is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Jay wants to control the action here but instead Jon manages to pass to full mount!

Jay holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Jon tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jay is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jon avoids the attempt from Jay to control.
Jay tries to control Jon's body but Jon pushes him off. Jay squirms to his side and now Jon has his back!

Jon looking to break Jay's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Jay remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Jon will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Jon gets his hands free as Jay looks to control.

Jay is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
I really don't envy Jay right now.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Jon's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Jay is having to fend off submission attempts from Jon, who is looking to sink in the choke. Jon doesn't have the hooks in though and Jay manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Jay slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Jay wanted to stand there but Jon had control of the position.
Jay trying to control but Jon is working from the bottom.
Jon controls Jay momentarily but Jay frees himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jon misses with a head kick.
Jay fails in his attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonny Jon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Jon shoots in for a double leg but Jay sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Jay is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jon tries to strike but it doesn't land.

Jay decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jon to his feet.

Jay closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jay lands in his opponent's guard.

We've been informed that Jon has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Blue Jay just wasn't active enough.
Jon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Jay changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jay forces Jon back against the cage and clinches.

Jon wants to sweep here but Jay controlling him for the moment.

Jay gets to his feet - Jon follows without any prompting.

Jon closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jay to the mat! Jay manages to get full guard.
Jon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jay not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jay has a closed guard, preventing Jon from standing up.
Jon trying to control but Jay is working from the bottom.
Jay seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jay has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jon tries a head kick but it misses.

Jay shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jon's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jon tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Blue Jay showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jay has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
