Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Safra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King Kong is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Safra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, King Kong!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kong looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Kong slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Safra.
Safra trying to control here.
Safra tries to get to full guard but Kong has control of the leg.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Kong takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kong winds up and cracks Safra with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Kong scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Safra is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Safra could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Kong works his way into side control.

Kong stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Kong shoots in but Safra avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Safra changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kong looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Safra is breathing heavily.
Safra in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Kong throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Kong wants to control but Safra postures up.
Kong is trying to get back to half guard.
Kong regains half guard.
Kong throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Safra has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kong is looking to escape.
Kong is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Kong counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kong.

Kong tries to free his leg and advance position but Safra is retaining full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kong's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Kong postures up and lands a big shot to Safra's brow.

Kong works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Safra regains full guard. Nicely done.
Safra wants to sweep here but Kong controlling him for the moment.
Safra pulls Kong in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Safra looking for a sweep. Not yet Safra, not yet.
Safra tries to strike from the bottom.

Kong trying to stand up but can't free himself from Safra's guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Kong has closed the distance and engaged Safra in a clinch.

Safra gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Safra takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Kong is trying to maintain the position but Safra is very close to passing his half guard.
Kong is pressing down on Safra's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Safra trying to control but Kong is working from the bottom.

Kong wriggles free and stands up.
Safra shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kong counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kong.

Safra has picked Kong up - he's going for a ride! Safra dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Kong wants to control but Safra passes into side.
Safra is chipping away with strikes.
Safra working the head with strikes.
Safra wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kong keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kong takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kong is looking to regain half guard here but Safra keeps moving and retains side control.
Safra landing strikes.

Safra is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kong knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kong manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Safra looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kong is not content to let Safra control the position.
Safra passes to full mount!
Safra tries to control but Kong wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but King Kong will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kong has control of Safra's left arm, preventing Safra from doing any damage.
Kong wants to sweep here but Safra controlling him for the moment.
King Kong has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kong keeping moving, preventing Safra from controlling successfully.
Kong throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Kong manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Safra manages to get himself to full guard.
Kong lands a couple of digs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kong slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Safra trying to keep a closed guard but Kong is proving a slippery customer.

Safra working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kong manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kong must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kong is in close to Safra's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Kong preventing the sweep.
Kong with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Safra pulls Kong in close to prevent any damage.
Safra is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Safra lands a good elbow from the bottom.
Kong postures up and lands a big shot to Safra's brow.
Safra lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kong!

Safra controlling the position easily from mount.
Kong is still in real trouble! Can Safra finish him?
Safra has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kong's face.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kong can do anything to dispel that myth.

Safra working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Kong turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Safra off and cradles Kong's limp body as Safra celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Gustavo Safra!
