Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Simon Phoenix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Rosholt!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rosholt closes the distance looking to clinch
and Phoenix counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Phoenix lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.


It looks like Tony Rosholt has been cut.
Phoenix displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rosholt.
Phoenix lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Phoenix cracks Rosholt with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Phoenix lands a body shot.

Rosholt moves into the clinch.
Phoenix lands a left hand that snaps the head of Rosholt backwards.

Rosholt breaks from the clinch.

Rosholt clinches.
Rosholt wants to take the fight to the mat but Phoenix manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Rosholt.
Phoenix tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rosholt tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Phoenix stops a takedown attempt from Rosholt.
Simon Phoenix has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Rosholt.
Rosholt has Phoenix pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Phoenix manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
With the fighters up against the cage, Phoenix throws an elbow but misses.

Phoenix breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Phoenix throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rosholt.
We've been told by Phoenix's head coaches at Jef Li's MMA(13 coaches, 49 cap) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Phoenix lands with a thumping leg kick.
Phoenix misses the jab.
Phoenix misses with a shot to the body
and Rosholt counters with a thumping low kick.
Phoenix dodges the punch combination from Rosholt.
Phoenix connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Rosholt's hands.


That has opened up Tony Rosholt's cut even more.
Rosholt wants to clinch up but Phoenix keeps it at a distance.
Phoenix lands a nice hook to Rosholt's body. Rosholt takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Phoenix misses with a two punch combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Phoenix looks to score with a jab to the body but Rosholt is just out of range.
Phoenix throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Phoenix scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Rosholt looks winded!
Phoenix lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Rosholt tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Phoenix manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Phoenix misses with an uppercut. Rosholt saw that one coming.
Phoenix connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Phoenix swinging wildly here.
Phoenix cracks Rosholt with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.


The cut above Tony Rosholt's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Phoenix comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Rosholt crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Phoenix - the referee stops the clock and Rosholt gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Phoenix. Rosholt manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Phoenix fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rosholt.
Phoenix cracks Rosholt's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Rosholt slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Phoenix can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Simon Phoenix!
