PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Charles The Prophet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Slone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Charles The Prophet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chad Slone!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from The Prophet misses.
Slone moves out of range of the strikes.
Slone moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Charles The Prophet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The Prophet closes the distance and clinches.
A left hand lands to the body for The Prophet.

The Prophet pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The Prophet throws a jab but it's blocked by Slone.
Slone staying out of range there.

The Prophet has taken the fight to the clinch.

Slone wants the takedown. The Prophet is fighting it off but Slone persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in The Prophet's guard against the cage.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The Prophet is looking to stand up but Slone isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slone trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Slone won't allow The Prophet to get back to his feet.

Slone thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The Prophet knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Slone on the ground.

Slone drops back looking for a leg! The Prophet is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and The Prophet manages to kick Slone off! Slone jumps back into The Prophet's guard.

The Prophet wants to stand and escape but Slone is having none of it.

Slone wants to pass the guard but The Prophet is keeping the position.
The Prophet is looking to stand up but Slone isn't so interested in that idea.

Slone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Slone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Slone thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Slone stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The Prophet swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Slone is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Slone prevents The Prophet from getting back to his feet.
Slone passes into half guard.
The Prophet is trying to stand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slone thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed The Prophet's head.

Slone is working for a kimura but The Prophet is defending it quite comfortably.
The Prophet keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Slone is sneakily working for an arm triangle but The Prophet sees it coming and defends easily.

Chad Slone dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The Prophet tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Slone was well out of range. Poor timing from The Prophet.

Slone fails with a takedown attempt.
Slone is breathing heavily.
Slone drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Slone ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Slone uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from The Prophet.

The Prophet is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
The Prophet moves in looking to clinch but Slone pushes him off.

The Prophet ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Slone moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charles The Prophet dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


The Prophet does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
