Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aleksandr Benidze!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bass fails with the takedown

and Benidze counters by moving into the clinch.
Benidze has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Benidze jumps into guard, dragging Bass to the mat.

Benidze is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bass is aware though and is defending well.

Bass has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Benidze is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bass is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Benidze presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Bass drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bass really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Benidze lands an elbow inside.


It looks like Elwood Bass has been cut.
Bass misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Benidze lands a hook to the side of the head.


Bass is rocked!

Benidze manages to pull guard.
Oh Bass is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bass throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Benidze seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Benidze is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Benidze is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bass seems to have got his legs back now.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
It looks like Benidze is going to stand back up.
Benidze is pressing down on Bass's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bass is holding on for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Benidze wants to stand up but Bass manages to regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bass gets caught flat footed, as Benidze shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Bass is really struggling to control Benidze but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Benidze must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bass is looking to control Benidze's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bass avoid being mounted?

We're going to have a standup here because Elwood Bass wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bass throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Benidze's waist but Benidze gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bass off to one side.

Benidze wants to take a breather but Bass is having none of it.
Benidze passes into side control, despite Bass's attempt to control the position.
A lull in the action here.

Benidze decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bass has his takedown stuffed
and Benidze counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Bass badly! Benidze follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Bass out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Benidze finished him against the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Aleksandr Benidze!
