Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darren Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Keni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darren Reynolds!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Keni!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Lou da Vinci and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Keni chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Keni slips a jab and a cross from Reynolds.
Keni tries for a takedown but Reynolds circles away easily

and Reynolds counters by moving into the clinch.

Reynolds pulls guard effortlessly.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Reynolds working for a triangle but Keni defends it easily.
Reynolds trying to keep a closed guard but Keni is proving a slippery customer.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Reynolds holds on and takes a little breather.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Keni wants to control from the top but Reynolds keeps moving.
Keni wants to stand and escape but instead Reynolds has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Keni looking to control.

Reynolds drops back, looking for a kneebar! Keni looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Keni looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Keni!
Keni is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Reynolds is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Keni has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Keni misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Reynolds on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Reynolds tries to get out of the position.
Reynolds is looking for a sweep.

Sloppy strikes there by Keni.
Reynolds struggling a bit here.
Reynolds sneaks back into half guard.

Keni is trying to work for a kimura but Reynolds is defending well.
Keni moves nicely into side control.
Keni tries to advance to mount but can't.

Keni is looking to take a break and control but Reynolds is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Reynolds is trying to control Keni's posture but Keni avoids it.
Reynolds is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Keni has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Reynolds is looking to regain half guard here but Keni keeps moving and retains side control.

Keni is trying to get an arm triangle but Reynolds is defending well.

Reynolds tries to buck Keni off but Keni is having none of it.

Reynolds is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Keni is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Darren Reynolds will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Keni tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Reynolds manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Keni has taken the fight to the clinch.

Keni is fighting off a takedown attempt but Reynolds is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Keni to the mat. Keni regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Reynolds's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Keni throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Reynolds escapes and throws Keni's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Reynolds decides to stand back up.
Keni fails in his attempt to clinch.

Reynolds feints and as Keni raises his hands in defense, Reynolds changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Keni is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Reynolds trying to control the position from guard on top but Keni is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Reynolds stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Keni swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Keni wants to sweep here but Reynolds controlling him for the moment.

Keni remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Keni tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Reynolds is looking to reverse the position.
Reynolds manages to work his way to half guard, despite Keni's best efforts.
Keni thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Reynolds is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Reynolds is staying active underneath Keni, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Reynolds has his hands clasped together around Keni's back. He's all about the action.
Reynolds is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Keni's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Keni's back!
Keni staying busy and making it hard for Reynolds to control.

Reynolds seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Keni's chin but Keni turns very nicely into Reynolds's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Keni.

Reynolds looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Keni has picked Reynolds up and slammed him! Reynolds can't keep hold of the triangle and Keni manages to pass to side control!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Keni laying and praying for a moment but Reynolds takes advantage and regains half guard.
Reynolds tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Keni manages to move to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darren Reynolds dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Keni lands a nice hook to Reynolds's body. Reynolds takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Reynolds gets a double leg takedown into Keni's guard.

Keni is looking for a triangle but Reynolds pushes his legs off easily.
Reynolds would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Keni has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Reynolds is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Keni's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Keni throws a sloppy head kick and Reynolds moves out of range easily.

Reynolds changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Keni looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Keni's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Keni is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Keni takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Keni tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Reynolds wants to control the pace but Keni is squirming around nicely.
Keni is looking to improve his position but Reynolds isn't that keen on the idea.
Reynolds lands with some strikes.
Reynolds controlling the pace for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Reynolds is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Keni has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Keni!

Reynolds has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Keni can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Reynolds is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Keni defends well.
Reynolds has control of Keni's left arm, preventing Keni from doing any damage.

Reynolds is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Reynolds wants to sweep here but Keni controlling him for the moment.

Reynolds has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Keni is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Reynolds.

Jason Keni has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Reynolds, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Darren Reynolds started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
