Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Firen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Lomov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Lomov!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Roberts and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Firen.
Firen just misses with a punch to the body.
Lomov fails with an attempt to clinch.
Firen looks to score with a jab to the body but Lomov is just out of range.
Lomov shoots for a takedown but Firen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Firen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A nice combination there by Firen.
Firen fails to land with a series of punches.
Lomov tries to clinch there but Firen circles away.
Lomov stuns Firen with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Firen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lomov moves away.

Firen slaps away a takedown attempt from Lomov, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lomov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Firen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lomov misses with a takedown attempt - Firen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Firen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Firen wants it to stay on the feet.
Firen throws a head kick but Lomov moves out of range.

Lomov pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Firen back to the cage. Lomov follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Firen throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Firen connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Lomov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Firen pinned against the cage. Firen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Firen paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Firen takes a swing at Lomov's ribcage but misses.
Firen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lomov throws a series of punches but Firen avoids them all with ease.

Firen misses with a shot to the body
and Lomov counters with a stiff right hand.
Firen tries a head kick but it misses.
Lomov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Firen tries to avoid it but Lomov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Firen to the ground. Firen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lomov takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Firen's corner calls for a 1-2. Firen obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lomov moves out of range of the leg kick from Firen.
Lomov shoots in looking for a takedown. Firen tries to sprawl out of it but Lomov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Firen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Firen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Lomov defends well and Firen ends up having to push Lomov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Firen is looking to wear down Lomov with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Firen scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Firen swings for the body but Lomov moves out of range.

Lomov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Lomov takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Firen looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Firen throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lomov is trying desperately to land a takedown but Firen is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Lomov.

Lomov misses with a jab, cross combination.
Horrible takedown by Lomov or perhaps it was just good defense by Firen which made him look bad.

David Firen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lomov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Firen throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Firen tries to land a front kick but Lomov steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Still in the clinch, Firen scores with a nice short uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lomov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Firen stalks Lomov and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lomov's face. Lomov staggers backwards, shaken.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Firen.
Firen looks to land a body kick but Lomov moved away.
Lomov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Firen avoids it really well and circles away.
Firen throws a right and a left that both miss.

Firen scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Lomov doesn't seem bothered though.

Lomov is working for takedown but Firen is calmly controlling the position for now.

Lomov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Firen throws a front kick aimed at Lomov's knee but Lomov avoids it well.
Lomov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Firen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Firen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Firen blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Lomov has Firen pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Firen manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Lomov tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Firen just stands there and leans against the cage.
Lomov jumps guard but Firen turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Firen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Nice shot lands for Firen.

Firen throws a push kick but Lomov slaps the foot to one side.
Lomov doesn't manage to clinch there - Firen circles away.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Firen here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Lomov misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Firen.
Firen fails to land with a series of punches.
Lomov dives in and grabs Firen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Firen pushes down on Lomov's head and hops out.
Firen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lomov tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Firen throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Lomov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Firen's waist but Firen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lomov off to one side.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Firen does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Alex Lomov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
David Firen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Firen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lomov is fending him off so far but Firen persists. Nope, Lomov circles away and we're back to standing.

David Firen showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Firen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
