The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Green clinches up against the cage.
Coffey lands a knee to the body.

Coffey works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Green darts in and clinches Coffey up against the cage.

Green has hold of one of Coffey's legs. Coffey is fighting the takedown attempt but Green gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Coffey is staying active underneath Green, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Coffey is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Green jumps into side control!
Coffey is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Coffey is not content to let Green control the position.

Green in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Coffey is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

John Green was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
