Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Spar Bjj (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deangelo Sturtsil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Deangelo Sturtsil has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Spar Bjj!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Deangelo Sturtsil!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Ben Watson and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bjj gets caught flat footed, as Sturtsil shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Bjj keeping full guard, as Sturtsil tries to pass.

Bjj isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Sturtsil stacks Bjj on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Sturtsil!

We've been hearing good reports from Bjj's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Bjj sneaks back into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bjj accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sturtsil is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Sturtsil thows a huge punch but Bjj dodges it nicely.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The strikes coming from Sturtsil are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
You can see the frustration on Bjj's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bjj tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sturtsil wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Sturtsil seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bjj does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Sturtsil looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bjj with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Deangelo Sturtsil showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Horrible takedown by Sturtsil or perhaps it was just good defense by Bjj which made him look bad.

Well Sturtsil has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
