Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rafeik Hollis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gordon Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rafeik Hollis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gordon Matthews!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews misses with a right hand
and Hollis counters with a big head kick but Matthews shrugs it off.
Hollis throws a sloppy head kick and Matthews moves out of range easily.

Hollis drives through with a takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Hollis is looking to stand up but Matthews won't let him.
Matthews looking to control.
Matthews looking for a sweep. Not yet Matthews, not yet.
Matthews is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hollis controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We're going to have a standup here because Rafeik Hollis wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Hollis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Matthews did well to prevent Hollis getting side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rafeik Hollis just wasn't active enough.

and Matthews decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hollis's guard.
Hollis wants to stand and escape but Matthews is having none of it.
Hollis keeping moving, preventing Matthews from controlling successfully.

Matthews avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Matthews works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hollis is positioning himself well to prevent Matthews advancing to mount.

Hollis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round but I would say that Rafeik Hollis will probably get the nod.

Hollis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Matthews defends well.

Rafeik Hollis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Matthews has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hollis is working away from the top position though.

Well, if Hollis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Matthews is trying to get back to full guard.
Matthews has hold of Hollis's hands but Hollis slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Hollis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hollis is taking a breather. Matthews says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Hollis takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Hollis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Hollis thows a huge punch but Matthews dodges it nicely.
Matthews is trying to get back to full guard.
Hollis stalling.
Hollis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rafeik Hollis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hollis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
