Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Cardenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan Cardenas has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Cardenas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Evans!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Evans scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Check out the look on Evans's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!


Cardenas is rocked!
Evans has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Evans is staying tight to Cardenas's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Oh Cardenas is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Evans tries to stand but Cardenas is controlling his head.

Cardenas seems to have got his legs back now.
Cardenas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Evans goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cardenas has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Evans but great work by Cardenas.

Cardenas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Evans tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cardenas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cardenas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Evans is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Evans is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cardenas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Evans keeps working.
You can see the frustration on Evans's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Evans is looking for a sweep.

Evans gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Cardenas wants to take a breather but Evans is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ryan Cardenas just wasn't active enough.
Evans wants to clinch.
Evans tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cardenas paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Evans throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cardenas was covering up waiting for the punch and Evans finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cardenas is working an open guard so Evans takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Evans closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cardenas did well to prevent Evans getting side control.
Cardenas is staying active underneath Evans, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cardenas is trying to get back to full guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Evans fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cardenas to the ground. Evans is now in Cardenas's guard.
Cardenas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Evans keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cardenas's head.

Evans stands up over Cardenas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Evans sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cardenas's guard.
Evans takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Evans is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cardenas sees it coming and defends easily.
Evans is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Cardenas punching from the bottom.

Evans wants to stand but Cardenas has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Evans seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Evans is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Evans looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Evans is trying to control. Cardenas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Evans lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Evans content to control rather than advance.

Cardenas looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Evans with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Evans dives in and scores a takedown into Cardenas's guard.
Evans lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Evans wants to stand but Cardenas has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Evans has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Evans stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cardenas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cardenas wants to sweep but no luck.

Evans wanted to stand there but Cardenas had control of the position.
Evans slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mark Evans was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Evans shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cardenas napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Evans tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
You can see the frustration on Cardenas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Evans should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Evans stands up.
Evans throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Evans shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Evans was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Cardenas sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Evans perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Evans passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Cardenas!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cardenas takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Mark Evans comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Evans has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
