The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wesley throws a left and a right that both miss
and Franks counters with a big head kick but Wesley shrugs it off.
Wesley falls off balance throwing a combination
and Franks counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Wesley has Franks up against the cage in a clinch.

Wesley is trying to trip Franks. He has hold of a leg but Franks is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wesley persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Franks working for a triangle but Wesley defends it easily.
Franks preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Wesley trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Wesley is looking to stand up but Franks won't let him.
Franks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wesley controls the pace.

Franks escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wesley gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Franks had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wesley defends it easily.
Wesley is looking to work some ground and pound but Franks has wrist control.

Franks keeping moving, preventing Wesley from controlling successfully.
Wesley working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Wesley is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Wesley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Franks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wesley has managed to get both his arms back between Franks's legs - danger averted.

Wesley rushes Franks and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Franks wants a takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wesley has picked Franks up - he's going for a ride! Wesley dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Wesley is taking a breather. Franks says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Wesley slips a nice elbow through Franks's hands, connecting with Franks's forehead.

Wesley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Franks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Franks is trying hard to land a takedown here. Wesley sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Wesley, as that shot connected.

Franks takes a kick to the side of the head.


It looks like Isreal Franks has been cut.
Wesley lands a jab-cross combination.
Franks circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wesley misses with a few strikes there.
Wesley lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Franks circles away quickly and effectively.
Franks darts in looking for a takedown but Wesley gets double underhooks and turns Franks into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Isreal Franks. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wesley turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Franks wants to get back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wesley throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Wesley tries to stand but Franks is controlling his head.
Franks throws a couple of elbows from the bottom.
Franks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Wesley decides to stand back up. Wesley steps back and let's Franks get back to his feet.
Wesley swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sir Wesley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Wesley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Sir Wesley decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
