Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kendrick Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Tharis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Tharis has the eye of the tiger tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tharis pushes Alexander up against the cage in a clinch.

Tharis manages to break the clinch.

Tharis drives through with a takedown into Alexander's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Alexander being controlled here, momentarily.
Tharis throws a strike but Alexander rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Tharis has his hands on Alexander's head, controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Kendrick Alexander just wasn't active enough.
Tharis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Tharis throws a sloppy head kick and Alexander moves out of range easily.
Tharis wants to clinch up but Alexander keeps it at a distance.

Alexander is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Tharis's half guard.
Tharis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tharis.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tharis is on top in guard.
Tharis stays in close to Alexander's body and controls the position.

Tharis throws a big elbow that misses.
Tharis engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Jon Tharis has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Tharis fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Alexander closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tharis did well to prevent Alexander getting side control.

Tharis wants to improve his position but Alexander is controlling well.
Tharis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Alexander's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Alexander's back!

Tharis is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Alexander. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

It looks like Kendrick Alexander has been cut.

Tharis gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Tharis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Let's hope that Tharis has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
