Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hidalgo Montoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Montoya comes to the cage accompanied by El Toro. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
30 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hidalgo Montoya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gabriel Rua!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montoya checks a leg kick.
A head kick misses from Rua.
Montoya loads up on a big right hand but Rua slips the punch.
Montoya takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Montoya shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rua's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Montoya stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rua swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Montoya advances to half guard.
Rua is looking to improve his position.

Rua might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Montoya haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Montoya wants to pass the guard but Rua is keeping the position.
Montoya definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Rua tries to clinch but Montoya is having none of it.
Rua avoids the body shot from Montoya.
Rua ducks under a wild hook from Montoya.
Montoya with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Montoya lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Rua cracks Montoya with a right hand to the side of the head.
Rua connects with a crisp jab.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Rua throws a push kick but Montoya slaps the foot to one side.
Rua blocks a low kick nicely.
A jab from Montoya does it's job there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rua walks into a jab.
Rua lands a leg kick that knocks Montoya off balance momentarily.
Montoya fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Rua checks it well.
Montoya slips a straight right by Rua.

and Montoya counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rua won't be happy with that.

Rua is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Montoya is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Montoya is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rua sees it coming and defends easily.

Rua is trying to control but can't.

Montoya is keen to just control but Rua is a slippery customer.

Montoya is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Montoya is trying to control the action in half guard but Rua is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Montoya is working for a kimura but Rua is defending it quite comfortably.
Montoya wants to pass to mount but Rua is defending the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hidalgo Montoya dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Montoya avoids a kick to the body.

Rua walks forward, straight into a front kick from Montoya.
Rua connects with a solid leg kick.
Montoya fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rua.
Montoya stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rua.
Montoya misses with a straight left.
Montoya tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rua was well out of range. Poor timing from Montoya.
Montoya avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Rua. No joy for Montoya on that attempt.
Montoya lands with a cross.
Montoya fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rua has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Montoya cracks the inside of Rua's front leg.
Rua walks into a left hand.
Montoya thows a left - swing and a miss!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rua thumps Montoya with a low kick.

Montoya tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Montoya shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Montoya misses with a low kick as Rua jumps back.
Rua throws a head kick but Montoya moves out of range.
Montoya is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rua's half guard.
Montoya is looking to advance position but Rua won't allow it.
Rua wants to improve his position but Montoya is controlling well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Montoya throws a leg kick which misses Rua's front leg but catches the back leg as Rua tries to avoid it.
Rua lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Montoya moves out of range of the body kick from Rua.

Montoya lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rua circles away quickly and effectively.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Montoya turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Rua shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Nice straight punches there by Montoya. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Montoya.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Montoya shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rua is trying to defend but Montoya finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Rua won't allow Montoya to pass to mount.
Rua is refusing to be controlled, as Montoya sits in half guard.
Hidalgo Montoya overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Montoya has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Rua defend it? Montoya steps over the head and cranks it - Rua is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Montoya!

Hidalgo Montoya bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
In defeat, Gabriel Rua stepped up to the mic, saying 'For Fucks sake.'.
