The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson is looking to clinch.

Van Der Vaart shoots in but no luck this time.
Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Van Der Vaart pushes him off.
Jackson doesn't manage to clinch there - Van Der Vaart circles away.

Van Der Vaart closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee asks Van Der Vaart politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Van Der Vaart prefers to stall for the moment though.

Van Der Vaart decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jackson to his feet.

Van Der Vaart is pulling down on Jackson's head. It's preventing any offense from Jackson, at least for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Van Der Vaart fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jackson avoids it really well and circles away.
Jackson stuffs the takedown attempt from Van Der Vaart. Van Der Vaart gets slowly back to his feet.

Jackson leaves Van Der Vaart with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jackson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Van Der Vaart backs up against the cage.

It looks like Luc Van Der Vaart has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jackson lands an elbow inside that Van Der Vaart shrugs off.

Jackson breaks from the clinch.
Van Der Vaart throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jackson's waist but Jackson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Van Der Vaart off to one side.
Van Der Vaart sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Jackson throws a powerful right kick. Van Der Vaart tried to block low but the kick was high! Van Der Vaart was taken right off of his feet! Jackson jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
