PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gold Cobra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dany Devito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Devito misses

and Cobra counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cobra.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Cobra wants to pass the guard but Devito is keeping the position.

Cobra drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cobra jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Devito is adopting a defensive guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Devito misses with a takedown attempt - Cobra sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Cobra swings for the body but Devito moves out of range.
Devito uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cobra.

Devito closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Cobra is looking for a sweep. Devito is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Still in half guard, Devito seems content to control.

Devito is working for a kimura but Cobra is defending it quite comfortably.

Cobra wants to control but Devito is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Devito is pressing down on Cobra's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cobra is holding on for now.
Devito is taking a breather. Cobra says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Devito shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Devito seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cobra does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Devito is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cobra doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Devito.

Cobra is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Devito defends it well.
Devito is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cobra stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Devito swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Devito has control of Cobra's left arm, preventing Cobra from doing any damage.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Cobra is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gold Cobra.

Devito is looking to control Cobra's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Devito avoid being mounted?

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Devito is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gold Cobra will probably get the nod.
