PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vaughn Howe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bishop Blackout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blackout has chosen Blackout - Method Man & Redman as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vaughn Howe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bishop Blackout!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blackout shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Howe is trying to defend but Blackout finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Blackout wants to stand up but Howe has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Blackout throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Howe to regain full guard.
Howe controlling the position.
Howe manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Blackout manages to get himself to full guard.

Howe lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Blackout not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Howe chips away with some ground and pound.
Blackout thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Blackout is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Blackout is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Blackout preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Howe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Blackout throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Howe in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Howe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Howe drops back, looking for a kneebar! Blackout looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Blackout looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Blackout!
Howe wants to control but Blackout postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Blackout tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Howe is trying to control Blackout's posture but Blackout avoids it.
Blackout tries to score with some ground and pound. Howe controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Howe parries the strikes from Blackout easily there. Blackout is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Howe to escape.

Howe manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Blackout is positioning himself well to prevent Howe advancing to mount.
Blackout wants to control but Howe is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Blackout is trying is best to control the position here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nice cross by Blackout.


It looks like Vaughn Howe has been cut.
Howe could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Blackout drives through with a takedown into Howe's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Blackout passes Howe's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Blackout frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Blackout looking to finish Howe with some ground and pound. This is bad for Howe!
Blackout lands with some strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Blackout with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blackout landing punches.
Howe tries to hold on but Blackout postures up.
Blackout wants to control the pace but Howe is squirming around nicely.
Blackout might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Howe haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Blackout with shots to the head and body - Howe looks very uncomfortable down there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bishop Blackout dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Vaughn Howe's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Howe tries to keep at a distance but Blackout has taken the fight into the clinch.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Blackout. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Blackout working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Blackout gets underhooks to prevent Howe's takedown attempt.
A fake to the body and Blackout gets the Thai clinch. He wastes no time and tries to connect with knees to the head. This is dangerous for Howe! He should get out! Another devastating knee and Howe falls head first to the ground. It's all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Bishop Blackout!
Bishop Blackout decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
