PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rohan Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Weight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rohan Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Doug Weight!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Steven Brown and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weight lands with a cross.
Khan shoots in but no luck this time.
Weight swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Khan clinches up against the cage.

Khan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Weight throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Weight gets caught flat footed, as Khan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Khan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Khan defending well as Weight loads up on a big left hand.
Doug Weight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab from Weight misses.
Weight misses with a wild body shot.

Khan feints and as Weight raises his hands in defense, Khan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Khan stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Khan looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Weight misses with a double jab

and Khan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Khan misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Weight.
Khan tries to throw a body punch but Weight avoids it by throwing Khan back against the cage.
Khan misses with a knee to the head.
Weight tries to circle away but Khan has him pinned against the cage.
Weight goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Khan stalling against the cage.
Khan misses with an elbow over the top.
Khan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Khan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Weight connects with a right hand. Khan shakes it off.
Khan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rohan Khan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Khan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Weight.
A punch combination from Khan misses.
Khan closes the distance and clinches up with Weight, looking for a takedown. Khan pushes Weight against the cage but Weight circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Weight lands a nice hook to Khan's body. Khan takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Khan is breathing heavily.
Weight takes a swing at Khan's ribcage but misses.
Weight will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Khan keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Weight.
Weight throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Weight fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Khan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A telegraphed right hand from Weight misses the target.
Weight swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A looping hook to the body misses from Weight. Khan does a little dance to reset his feet.
Weight throws a looping overhand right but Khan ducks down to avoid it.
Weight throws a nice looking combination but Khan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Weight throws a right hand that misses

and Khan counters with a nice double leg into side control. Weight won't be happy with that.

Khan decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Weight throws out a loose jab but Khan uses good head movement to avoid it.
Khan avoids the body shot from Weight.

Khan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Weight looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Weight being controlled for a moment.
Weight tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Khan easily slips into full mount!
Weight tries to control the position but Khan now has his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Weight just trying to survive but Khan is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Khan working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Weight is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Khan has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Weight taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rohan Khan!
