The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Archer throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Archer will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Archer drives through with a takedown into guard.
Archer working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Archer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Archer looking to sit in guard and control but Ray gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Archer wants to sweep here but Ray controlling him for the moment.

Archer is trying to control the position but Ray postures up.
Archer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Archer wants to work for an arm triangle but Ray is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ray is staying active underneath Archer, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ray holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Archer has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Ray defend it? Archer steps over the head and cranks it - Ray is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Archer!
