The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
SB shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Montoya defends it nicely.
Montoya tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but SB paws at him with a jab and circles away.
SB throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
SB shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Montoya as he jumps to the side.
Montoya shoots for a double leg takedown but SB sprawls well. He's pushed Montoya's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
SB trying to control the position from guard on top but Montoya is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Montoya working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. SB doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. SB manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

SB throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Montoya's waist but Montoya gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing SB off to one side.
SB tries to score a power double leg takedown but Montoya sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten SB somewhat.

SB is breathing heavily.
SB is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
SB perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
SB's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Montoya tries to roll over but SB keeps him under control.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. The SB wasn't active enough on the ground.

The SB showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Montoya is pressed up against the cage. SB has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Montoya down to the mat. Montoya avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

SB leaves Montoya with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

SB stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Montoya swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well SB has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking The SB rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
