PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Billy Badass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Punisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Badass comes to the cage accompanied by Two Tub Man. Punisher has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Badass.
Punisher stops Badass from passing to mount.

Badass is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Punisher has escaped the position, nice work there.
Badass tries to advance to mount but Punisher denies him.
Badass trying to control the position but Punisher is working away.

Badass thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Punisher pushes Badass away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Badass gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Punisher has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Badass is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Punisher knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Punisher for a finish.

Punisher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Badass. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Punisher is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Badass gets his way!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Punisher throws a head kick but Badass moves out of range.

Badass is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Punisher is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Badass wants to lay and pray for a moment but Punisher keeps working.
Punisher tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Punisher parries the strikes from Badass easily there. Badass is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Punisher to escape.

Badass has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Punisher has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Billy Badass overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Badass goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Punisher escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Punisher is looking to take a break and control but Badass is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Badass is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Punisher frees his head nicely. Oh but Badass has switched to an armbar! Punisher is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
